Fall is right around the corner and nothing gets me in the mood like pumpkins. Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin home decor, pumpkin patch trips- you name it! This year I am participating in a crochet pattern blog hop centered around (you guessed it) pumpkins.
How Does a Blog Hop Work?
Since I had never participated in a blog hop before, this was my question too! It’s easier to play along and get loads of free crochet patterns than you would might think. The whole point of a blog hop is to increase traffic to the participating blogs, which helps you to find new designers and patterns! Each day has a different free blog pattern, available for free with a special coupon code. The host blog, Pineapple & Pine, will have all the discount codes, updated daily. Once you get the code for the day, you can follow a link to that designer’s blog so you can get the free pattern. Since this blog hop will have a different pumpkin-themed crochet pattern each day, make sure to bookmark the page and check daily so you can get each free pattern!
For the first half of the blog hop, the codes could be found on Crafting For Weeks. Now through the end of the month, A Plush Pineapple has the coupon codes to get your free pumpkins! Just visit the link to her blog and you can find the daily coupon code there. You’ll be able to collect dozens of pumpkin crochet patterns FOR FREE. You’ll be extra prepared for autumn crocheting this year and can even plan on working on some of those patterns during October for the upcoming Pumpkin CAL (crochet -a-long).
I will have a link in my Instagram profile so you can come back to this blog post. I will make sure the host blog is up to date and I will try to include a little bit about the daily free pattern and its designer on here as well.
My own pattern is a new design that will be released on September 28. Keep an eye out so you can grab my Life is Gourd Dishcloth Set for free on release day with the blog hop coupon code!
Week 1
Just look at these Popcorn Pumpkins by @cbfiberworks! That texture is so eye-catching and would be a great way to use up some of your stash yarn. It reminds me of the warty pumpkins and gourds you can buy this time of year and would make a great contrast to more subtle crochet pumpkins.
As a contrast to the above pumpkins, this design by @figandfilament is sleek and modern with an integrated ribbing feature that means you don’t have to sew to get the segments. The pattern is written with eighteen different sizes so you can make a huge pumpkin patch!
I love how these Cinnamon Pumpkins by @cafelunadesign come in all sorts of shapes and sizes! I really need to make a tall skinny pumpkin now to add some variety to my handmade patch. The cinnamon sticks are a great way to add an organic looking stem that also makes the whole room smell like fall!
Can a pumpkin get any more luxe? I need to get me some faux fur yarn so I can make this pattern by @craftingforweeks ASAP. This pumpkin definitely fits in with a more elegant home decor so you can celebrate the season without distracting from your regular interior design.
The intense texture of these pumpkins means you get the pumpkin ridge without any extra sewing. I adore the little witch’s hat stem you can add on! This pattern by @thecoffeeshopcrochet adds an additional spooky touch to your fall decor.
Pumpernickel the Pumpkin Man by @crochetwizzard is possibly the cutest amigurumi for the fall season I have ever seen! With this pattern you can take your amigurumi skills to the next level beyond just a pumpkin.
Week 2
These adorable Mini Pumpkins by @patternscompany are just too cute!! They would make an awesome fall party or wedding favor since they would work up so fast. We love a good stash buster!
These Scarecrow Pumpkins by @finchandfletcher are so adorable! What a fun take on pumpkins that fit in with the entire season of fall. They are completely customizable too to how you want them to fit your seasonal decor.
Velvet yarn + bobbles = the best squish! These Velvet Bobble Pumpkins by @eclairemakery would be a great cozy edition to your pumpkin patch.
This Wide Ribbed Pumpkin by @CraftingEachDay has some great squish! The texture is familiar and yet unique, making it a great pumpkin to make to spice things up.
This uniquely textured Autumn Fair Pumpkin by @prettypinetreecrochet is a lovely pumpkin variant for your collection! And while I have used many materials for pumpkin stems in the past, I have never thought to use a stick. So cute!
Week 3
The Double Twist Pumpkin by @youshouldcraft has another great texture! Who knew you could make such a variety of pumpkins? The pattern comes with a photo and video tutorial for the special stitch used for the texture.
This Rustic Pumpkin Garland by @theknottednest is perfect to string in your home to add an autumnal feeling. It would be so fun to hand over a fireplace or along a staircase, or even to decorate a tabletop setting.
The texture from the alpine stitches of the Twisted Country Pumpkin by @pegnolan looks amazing! It may seem complicated but this pumpkin doesn’t even involve seaming.
If you haven’t tried tunisian crochet before, the Tunisian Crochet Puffy Pumpkin by @raffamusadesigns is a perfect first project! The texture of those bobbles is so fun too. I like that tunisian crochet is similar enough to regular crochet that it is easy to learn but makes the project different enough to be interesting and new.
Isn’t this Crochet Pumpkin Hat by @christacodesign the cutest? It comes in a range of sizes from baby to adult so that everyone can have a cute pumpkin hat.
Here is a bonus free pattern! This Luxe Leopard Pumpkin by @craftingforweeks is so chic. Who doesn’t love leopard print everything?
Week 4
These Knotty Punkins by @angie.sass have a farmhouse vibe that is really popular in home decor right now. If you take a second look, you’ll even see a subtle nobbly texture that is a fun detail!
These Puffed Pumpkins by @warmingtheheart have some great texture too! The alternating directions of the puff stitches adds to the shaping of these pumpkins.
This classic pumpkin from @crochethighway (which is actually This is Not a Pumpkin Pumpkin!) has many variations, from multiple sizes to differing stems and leaves. This design adds a lot of variety to your pumpkin collection.
The texture on these Puff Stitch Pumpkins by @lizzybeecrafts is mesmerizing! Puff stitches use up quite a bit of yarn (for the ultimate squish factor) so this is a great way to use up a skein or two of stash yarn.
It is so interesting how many textured stitches you can use for pumpkins! The Even Berry Pumpkins by @ravinsekaidesigns are no exception.
Week 5
The Kent Pumpkin by @hearthandwool is part of the designer’s Kent collection, which includes a linked double crochet stitch. This gives it a familiar and yet unique texture that spices things up a bit!
This design is my favorite because it is my own! The Life is Gourd Dishcloth Set by @crowchetcreations is a perfect way to add some more subtle and functional pumpkins to your fall decor. The unique texture of the stitches is fun to learn.
This Little Pumpkin Hat by @ambassadorcrochet would be so cute on a little one this time of year! The design of the stem is really realistic too.
As the very last pumpkin pattern for this blog hop/round up, you can’t get any cuter or more basic than this Amigurumi Pumpkin Spice Latte by @craftykittycrochet! This would be such a fun toy for a little one or gift for your favorite PSL lover. This pattern is free on September 30 only with the coupon code, so make sure to check out the host blog’s page to get this pattern.
Continue to check back here every day to learn about the daily free pattern that is available! I hope you love getting into the fall spirit with these pumpkin patterns.
XO, Emily
