What’s a Blog Hop Again?
If you haven’t heard of a “blog hop” before, it’s an online collaborative event where the host designer writes a blog post with links to all the participant designers. Patrons go to the host blog post to be redirected to the featured designer’s blog post for each day. Then, they can download the daily PDF for free! In less than five minutes a day of “hopping” from the host blog to the designer blog to the designer’s pattern shop, the customer can get a free pattern every day for the month! That’s 30 patterns (in this case 33 since the some days will have two free patterns)!
My Turning Leaves Hand Towel pattern will be available for free download on September 17, but there are some amazing designs every day this month. If you miss some of the pattern downloads, or don’t want the stress of trying to get the downloads daily, you can purchase the pattern bundle (a $140 value) for only $12.99, and get all 33 patterns instantly!
There is also a giveaway (with five winners!) sponsored by WeCrochet. You can sign up for a chance to win on the host’s blog post. WeCrochet generously provided the yarn support for all of the patterns in this blog hop, many thanks to them!
Ready to Download Your Free Patterns?
From September 1-September 15, the host blog will be Itchin’ For Some Stitchin’. For the second half of the month, the host blog will be Ned and Mimi. Head over to the correct host blog for each day and scroll down to the day’s date to get instructions and links for downloading the pattern!
September 17- Turning Leaves Hand Towel
Spice up your seasonal decor with this hand towel reminiscent of autumn’s changing leaves. A striking yet simple hand towel design that includes three separate leaf motif appliqués means that you can customize this hand towel to get the fall look you want.
I used WeCrochet Dishie in the colors Linen (the main color) as well as Fiesta, Sunbaked, Butterscotch, and Mushroom for the contrast colors. The hand towel itself was approximately 420 yards total, while each leaf embellishment used about 2 yards. You can make as many or as few leaves as you want! A US J/ 6.0 mm hook got me the gauge I wanted for this design.
My hand towel gauge was 15 single crochet stitches by 17 rows worked flat to get 4″ x 4″. The hand towel will measure approximately 26″ long and 12″ wide, with each leaf applique being about 2-3 inches long.
This pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy. Get the coupon code found on Ned and Mimi’s blog so you can download your pattern for free from Ravelry on September 17, then click the button below to be taken to the pattern page on Ravelry. If you do not use Ravelry, just email me the coupon code at crowchetcreations@gmail.com and I can get the pattern PDF to you another way.
Happy making!
