That’s right- a double pattern release that is perfect for beginners or your first mohair project.
These patterns are the perfect set for a beginner!
- Simple stitch pattern repeat
- Versatile design that can go from a night out to a night on the couch
- Written for stash-busting
- Warm and lightweight with excellent drape
There are resources within the Cardamom Wrap pattern for wet blocking your piece, substituting other yarns successfully, and modifying the dimensions of your wrap. This is the ideal pattern for trying a mohair or alpaca fiber for the first time!
The Cardamom Earwarmer is a quick make that also includes resources for wet blocking and substituting yarns. It’s lightweight and warm due to the combination of the moss stitch and the alpaca yarn.

Cardamom Wrap
Here are all the details so you can be ready to start this project ASAP. This pattern takes approximately 810 yards of DK weight yarn in total.
For my 4 color sample (instructions included in the pattern), I used:
Approximately 232 yards for color 1; I used Feather Gray Melange (gray)
Approximately 173 yards for color 2; I used Noir (black)
Approximately 183 yards for color 3; I used Champagne (tan)
Approximately 232 yards for color 4; I used Berry Sorbet (pink)
Using an L (8.00 mm) hook, 7 sts x 9 rows in pattern = 4”, blocked
Gauge is in moss stitch; ch 1 does not count as a stitch for the gauge or pattern.
Approximately 75” long x 18” wide; it can be aggressively wet blocked to fit these measurements due to the nature of the moss stitch and the alpaca fibers.
You can customize the number of colors you use, the variety of fibers, and even the size of the pattern with the included helpful dimension guides (make a cowl, or even a throw blanket!). This is a great stashbusting project and first introduction to fibers such as mohair, alpaca, and angora. The Cardamom Wrap can be worn on a night out on the town or for an evening in on the couch.
Cardamom Earwarmer
Here are all the details so you can be ready to start this project ASAP. This pattern takes approximately 50-110 yards of DK weight yarn, depending on the size you make. Sizes are based on head circumference and the earwarmer is crocheted with up to 4″ of negative ease to ensure a snug fit.
- Baby: up to 16”
- Toddler: up to 18”
- Child: up to 20”
- Adult small: up to 22”
- Adult large: up to 24”
Using an L (8.00 mm) hook, 7 sts x 10 rows in pattern = 4”, blocked
Gauge is in moss stitch; ch 1 does not count as a stitch for the gauge or pattern.
The final yarn weight is bulky. I held Rowan Alpaca Classic double. You can obtain this weight by mixing multiple yarns together as you desire, as long as you meet gauge. For example:
Worsted + lace weight mohair/suri = bulky
DK + DK = bulky
DK + lace weight + lace weight = bulky
DK + fingering + lace weight = bulky
fingering + fingering + lace weight + lace weight = bulky
This is a great stash busting project!
Learn About the Design Process
If you’ve ever been curious about the process of designing a crochet pattern, I have a two-part series on my YouTube channel talking about the design of the Cardamom Wrap pattern from inspiration to publishing. Both videos are up on my channel. Take a look at the behind-the-scenes of creating one of my favorite designs yet!
Many Thanks to My Awesome Testers!
I have to thank my amazing testers who helped trial these patterns before they could be published. I even had some volunteers make both the Cardamom Wrap and the Cardamom Earwarmer! Any designer will tell you that without testers, it is really difficult to feel confident in the quality of your written pattern. Below are some pictures of their work so you can see how beautiful they all are (both the testers and their finished objects!).

I have really enjoyed working up and designing these patterns, and I hope they bring you joy too! They are lightweight and cozy with excellent drape, so they have been a staple in my cold weather wardrobe. They work up so quick and would make great gifts. Please share with me on Instagram using the hashtags #CardamomWrap, #CardamomEarwarmer, and #CrowchetCreations, I would love to see your versions!
Happy making!
